WHAT TYPE OF INTERPRETING DO I REQUIRE?
At multilingual events, such as international conferences and large meetings, simultaneous interpreting enables effective communication to break down language barriers. Due to the intensive nature of this mode of interpreting, the interpreters usually work in pairs. Sitting in sound-proof booths, they listen to the speaker through headphones and give delegates a running interpretation into another language via receivers.
For smaller meetings, where the use of equipment is not appropriate and only two languages are being spoken, consecutive interpreting may be used. This involves the interpreter taking notes while a speaker is talking and rendering in full what has been said during a suitable break.
By constrast, ad-hoc or liaison interpreting is used in less formal situations, such as site visits and business meetings, in which case the interpreter summarises information and is able to respond to individual needs.

WILL I NEED TO HIRE THE EQUIPMENT SEPARATELY?
Once the most appropriate mode of interpreting for the event has been established, COMTEC can then provide all the necessary equipment to put the work into action. Some assignments will require fully sound-proofed booths together with microphones and headsets, whereas other situations, such as site visits and smaller meetings, may require portable equipment.
