One of Europe’s leading independent digital learning companies, Sponge UK, has maximised its growth with the support of language service provider, Comtec Translations.
Working with an increasing number of global clients, many of them household names like Tesco, GlaxoSmithKline, the United Nations and Toyota, Sponge UK delivers improved workplace performance, using advanced technologies and creative learning programmes.
To support their expansion, they reached out to find a language partner who had the same standards and values as them in supporting large organisations who need to engage their global workforce.
Louise Pasterfield, Managing Director for Sponge UK explains: “Our relationship with Comtec began about four years ago. Over that period they have helped us to reach learners all across the world.
“Sponge currently operates in more than 50 languages across as many countries, but our global reach is always expanding as we work with new organisations in new geographies. If our clients need a service in a particular territory, it’s our job to deliver that. And with Comtec able to translate in over 200 languages, there’s really nowhere in the world we can’t operate in.
“It’s about more than translation though, it’s about understanding the needs of the forward-thinking businesses we are working with and supporting us in pushing the boundaries of what is possible with workplace learning.”
Comtec supports Sponge UK with a wide range of translation and localisation services for its custom-made digital learning services. This includes everything from e-learning modules to interactive videos, virtual reality, motion graphics, games, leader boards, audio scripts and voiceovers.
One award winning campaign on which Sponge UK drew on the translation expertise of Comtec was the Learning Leap programme undertaken for Tesco. The campaign was designed to get thousands of Tesco employees across 11 countries up to speed on a particular set of rules and regulations in a matter of weeks.
Louise explains: “It was a complex programme with e-learning modules, a communications campaign, refresher learning and an interactive leader board. Plus, there was the added pressure of delivering the programme in a very short time frame.
“Comtec helped to make the whole process seamless. This included things like extracting text from a variety of complex documents, creating easy to review documents for Tesco and using an easy to follow clear process. It proved highly successful and has become a flagship programme at Tesco, repeated year on year.
“Our focus is on helping our clients maximise their productivity through inspired digital learning and this often means being able to engage with employees around the world. We are working with many more clients that operate globally so high quality localisation is vital. Our ambition is to be a world leader in learning technologies innovation and Comtec is playing an important role in helping us achieve that.”
Sophie Howe, managing director at Comtec Translations, adds: “Employing the services of qualified, experienced translation experts enables our clients to successfully meet the brief of their international clients
“We have been delighted to have the opportunity to support such a rapidly growing organisation as Sponge UK. As a language service provider which has also experienced rapid growth, we understand the needs of other fast-moving, high growth companies. We respond quickly to changing requirements, communication styles, mediums and channels, with our technical expertise and flexible service allowing our clients in turn to respond to their client’s requirements without delay.
“Working with Sponge UK is very rewarding as we know that we are contributing to the success of campaigns for so many market leading global brands and we look forward to a long-term partnership as they further expand their reach.”
