It is heart breaking to see pictures on the news of scared refugee children – cold and wet – waiting in the mud to be let into/travel across Europe.
We are working with a local group, ‘These Hands Are Better Than None’ to collect donations for refugee children in Greece, Turkey and the Balkans.
We will be providing our offices as a drop off point to leave donations of children’s winter clothing on Saturday November 14th, 9-5.30pm.
Details are included below on what we specifically need.
Cleavers, a local removals company based in Leamington Spa has kindly donated 40 boxes to ship the items.
Address to drop off donations:
Comtec Translations Ltd, 62 Brandon Parade, Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, CV32 4JE
There is some parking at the side of the building.
Please press the buzzer for Comtec at the front door.
Items needed: *** sizes Newborn to 16 years old.****
Waterproof jackets/cagoules and trousers
Thermal Underwear (vests and long johns)
New socks (winter/ski socks)
Winter boots/wellies – MUST BE WATERPROOF – pairs attached securely (masking tape with the UK & EU size written on does the job and really helps)
POLYESTER is best so anything fleece would be perfect – polyester is light, dries quickly and moves moisture away from the body
WOOL – retains its warmth even when wet but does become heavy so not a good choice for socks
COTTON is a NO GO – it holds moisture next to the body and will make the children cold.
Please let me know if you would like any additional information.
Thank you very much for your support.
