ISO 17100:2015 is awarded by the Association of Translation Companies (ATC) and ensures translation excellence is maintained in all key processes and procedures. It recognises that its holders recruit the highest calibre of linguists with specialist knowledge appropriate to different subject areas and who translate into their mother tongue only.
Translator Assessment and Selection
To ensure we provide accurate, fluent, well written and effective translations of the highest quality to our clients, we hand-pick expert and professional translators with specialist industry knowledge for each project. All our skilled translators undergo a rigorous assessment process in order to join our global network.
They are initially selected for assessment based on key criteria (Qualifications, Minimum 5 years’ experience, Specialist subjects, References) and must complete a sample translation to a high standard. Should they be accepted, they are then incorporated into Comtec’s on-going assessment system under which his/her work undergoes continual quality reviews.
All our professional translators work only into their native language and must have a specialist understanding of particular industry sectors and the associated terminology, as well as in-depth cultural knowledge of the target countries.
Interpreter Assessment and Selection
Our interpreters adhere to a stringent Code of Conduct that guarantees the highest standards of accuracy, impartiality, confidentiality and cultural sensitivity. All our interpreters are affiliated to professional bodies including the AIIC, National Register of Public Service Interpreters, Institute of Translation and Interpreting and Institute of Linguists.
Interpreters are selected based on their knowledge and expertise in the subject area required and their experience of interpreting in similar situations. Our database of interpreters covers a wide range of skills, from community interpreting, to facilitating conversation in business meetings, to simultaneous interpreting for large conferences. All approved interpreters are required to hold an appropriate qualification in interpreting and provide a minimum of two good references. Feedback is also collected after each assignment, to ensure that they fully meet the needs of our customers at all times. Where a customer may require interpreting over several days, we always endeavour to provide the same interpreter for all dates to maintain consistency.
